EKOME has been a constant supporter of the International Animation Festival Animasyros and Agora, in the context of its commitment to support domestic audiovisual production in the field of animation and the consolidation of Greek creative expression in the global audiovisual field. This year’s Animasyros 2021 took place under the auspices of the “Greece 2021” Committee (22-26 / 9), with a variety of activities dedicated to “Freedom”, in a hybrid phygital form.
The tone of the 14th ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival was given by the pre-festival event, at the Municipal Theater of Piraeus (20/9), where the program of the Festival’s activities was presented and the Festival’s movie, in collaboration with Melodia Fm, called “Ninety Mondays for ATTIC” was screened for the first time. President and CEO of EKOME Panos Kouanis welcomed the strategic cooperation of EKOME with Animasyros Festival, focusing on the essential effort for the practical support of animation and the recognition of Greece and its professionals in the global audiovisual market.
Through its targeted collaboration with Animasyros Festival 2021, EKOME undertook the scientific support and supervision of animation workshops during the year and all of the films created through the educational programs of the Festival will be included in the National Audiovisual Archives Repository of EKOME that had an active presence in the Festival and Market through presentations of its executives to the public and the professionals. The Head of the Department for the Digital Content Development and Management of EKOME, Stelios Kymionis presented the results of the competition “The Lesson made… Game” inviting teachers and students to create their own game, in the context of the organic integration of gamification into the educational process.
The Head of Communication and International Relations Department of EKOME, Vasiliki Diagouma, participated in the forum of Animasyros Agora, presenting the support of EKOME to Animayros Festival, the provision of educational and training tools for young people and professionals, the collaborations of EKOME with institutions such as ASIFA, Hellenic Film Academy and Greek Film Centre, and through the promotion of the Greek animation in international markets such as the Annecy Film Festival.
For the first time this year, Animasyros launched its collaboration with the Drama International Short Film Festival, where part of the tribute to “Freedom” was presented. The connection of the two festivals, which are actively supported by EKOME, was of particular importance as it further strengthens the effort of international promotion of the Greek audiovisual works. Short and feature films screened at the world’s most popular animation festivals, award-winning festival films from all over the world, as well as films specially selected for children, presentations, seminars, workshops, and networking meetings, aiming to further development of animation, the training of young creators and the promotion of animation in the international community of professionals, composed this year’s program of Animasyros. The closing ceremony concluded with the awards ceremony, in a festive atmosphere, with the first Grand Prize being awarded to “Affairs Of The Art” by Joanna Quinn.
